Markers in Logic Pro

Once mastered, markers are a powerful addition to any workflow. Not only are they helpful to visibly location a position, but learning the right key commands will allow you to jump quickly between parts of a project.

Creating Markers in Logic Pro

  • OPT + " will create a marker from the Playhead position to the end of the project
  • Use G to open Global Tracks. Right click the marker track, and select Create Marker.
  • Drag the cycle marker down to the ruler to create a marker of that length

Using Markers as a navigation aid in Logic Pro

  • OPT + / opens the Go To Marker dialog. This is where using the ## in the marker titles can be useful.
  • OPT + , - go to the previous marker
  • OPT + . - go to the next maker

Other tips with Markers

  • Using two ## anywhere in the marker title will include the marker position (e.g. first, second, third...)
  • To color them, select one or more markers, and use OPT + C to select a color.
